i55 ministries

i55 templateThis is one of those dream jobs, and has been my highest paying ever. At first I didn’t get on too well with the designer. Speed seemed to be critical and I rushed off the project without understanding anything whatsoever about what had to be done. It was my first time working with another designer and I couldn’t seem to understand why 2 pixels mattered.

I would have walked away from the project, but I realized I was the one being unreasonable and decided to take it on. This has by far been my most rewarding project. I got to play with JEvents and rewrote a lot of the code — from the calendar on the left to the main calendar and the event listing.

I also wrote my first full-fledged component I called Experience after the i55 Experience section. The PHP GD library was fascinating — I used it to scale the photos and draw borders around them although I had problems with PNG transparency. There was also one mini-component controlling the mambot on the InGatherings and OutGatherings pages.

I had the nicest clients in the i55 team and great support from the man who recommended me, Chris Vincent of Maintainable Solutions.
