On WritingInn

February 10th, 2007

I know this is lame but I haven’t posted here in ages.

The way the new version of Authware’ll work, we can have something.com/~azuka for user profiles if a friendly url handler is defined. I recently did some Windows hosts file tampering, redirecting a new domain name (writinginn-server.com) to my system for testing out WritingInn in realistic conditions i.e.

127.0.0.2	writinginn-server.com
127.0.0.2	www.writinginn-server.com
127.0.0.2	profiles.writinginn-server.com

I still haven’t quite gotten the hang of virtual subdomains on Windows XP using Apache as I’d have loved to do the sort of .blogspot.com implementation Blogger does for WritingInn but since Hostmonster doesn’t support it, I’ll settle for profiles.writinginn.com/member_name for user profiles.

Well, who knows — if I’m successful I’ll probably purchase VPS hosting elsewhere and move.

Enough with the rants…

Hey I know this is a little off topic from your post, but you mentioned you are using hostmonster. If you get a chance maybe you could leave a review of their services at the below url?

    http://www.webhostingunleashed.com/hostmonster

The direct submit review link is:

btw, if you are looking for a vps account, liquidweb.com is quite good and so is jodohost.com. If you are just looking for a cheap ok one hostforweb.com is ok, I used them for about a month but had a small problem with file limits and how many files I was creating.

Hey, that domain name redirecting just gave me an idea. Thanks! BTW, is there a release version of authware i can test? you make it sound like it’s the bomb…

Thanks, I’ve left a review. I’m something of a cheapstake so I might be checking out VPSLink instead.

Don’t mind me. All I do is wax philosophic about it. I’ll soon have stuff up and running but it’s little more than a glorified version of what I have on my writing site.
